Chewy on the outside, soft on the inside, with the perfect milk chocolate chips (Guittard. Must use Guittard). They are divine. I get asked to make them by everyone and every time I take them anywhere, the recipe is requested by at least a half-dozen people. I've tried other "best chocolate chip cookie recipes" and they haven't ever measured up or they have ingredients that I don't like to use, like shortening. The only bad thing about making them is that I eat them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner until they are gone. I got the initial recipe from my sister Tiffany (who is an amazing cook) when I was first married and have adapted it slightly over the years.
Here's the recipe:
1 cup butter softened
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup sugar
2 tsp vanilla
Combine these ingredients in a mixer and beat until creamed and the color of the mixture lightens (about 2 minutes on medium speed).
3 1/2 cups of flour (you may need 3 1/4 depending on the size of eggs you use etc)
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
Mix into a dough with mixer.
Add 1 bag Guittard Chocolate chips (this is important, very important).
Divide into cookie dough balls, put on pan and bake at 350 degrees for 11 minutes.
