Spooky Dinner Roundup

Holiday recipes

One of our family’s favorite traditions is a Halloween dinner filled with all sorts of creepy, but edible and delicious, things to eat. We call it Spooky dinner, and my girls love helping plan it and make the Halloween-centered food items. Here is a roundup of our menu this year:

Our main course this year was a little more gory than in year’s past. I guess my daughters are getting older…sigh. So with that, and my husband’s love for smoking ribs we copied this idea from Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/388294799105847067/

I don't have an exact recipe as my husband smokes the ribs and doesn’t use a recipe and all I did was heat the all-Beef little smokies in some barbecue sauce on the stove and put them in as the guts…sounds yummy eh? Haha!

For the sides we had:

Jack O’Lantern Mac n Cheese Cups

This recipe (just like Noodles & Co and so yummy!): http://www.savoryreviews.com/2011/11/14/noodles-and-co-wisconsin-mac-and-cheese-hacked/

Melon Brains - a favorite of my girl’s. It looks harder than it actually is and we aways use a mini watermelon which helps! This is a great instruction post with pics

Veggie Skeleton - we make this every year because it is my oldest daughter’s favorite! And it’s a great way to get your veggies!

Jello Worms - oh these look so real it is crazy! First site is a ghastly one, but once you taste them they are so good that you won’t even notice the fact that they look identical to real worms. Your kids will go nuts over these!

Ghostly Fruit Kebabs: Easy and fun!

For dessert:

Tombstone Dirt Cups

Peanut Butter Spider Cookies

Oh - and don’t forget potion! The most magical part of the whole dinner! We just do apple juice and add dry ice. The kiddos think it is the coolest thing ever and actually, so do all the adults! It adds so much fun and bubbling fog covers the spread - it’s amazing and so easy!

To top the night off we made this little craft with the kids. It was easy and fun and they turned out adorable!
